There are many carbon offsetting schemes available with varying levels of authenticity. We only use UN or Gold Standard certified schemes, both of which are highly
regarded and have a global reach.
The UN schemes are United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) acredited. The greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduced through offsetting are measured in UN Certified Emission Reductions (CERs). The CERs are generated from Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects. These projects are located in developing countries.
The Gold Standard was developed in 2003 by World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). It is a standard that sets requirements to design projects for maximum positive impact in climate and development and to measure and report outcomes in the most credible and efficient way.
